Take your PIK on Pokémon: Detective Pikachu

Still in the spirit of Pokémon GO Community Day that happened last weekend, we would like share with you a little bit on the Pokémon: Detective Pikachu movie that is set to be released in 2019.

The first trailer of the movie came out a couple of weeks ago and people are STILL talking about it! With over 60 million views (combined) on YouTube – we’ve heard mixed reviews about the Warner Bros. Pictures’ adaptation of the very popular game character and personality.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a fan of Pokémon or not, here we give you our personal opinion on why you might like it and why you might not like the movie:

What’s not to like about a real-life Pikachu?! Based on the very charming Pokémon game on 3DS, Detective Pikachu features an extremely furry Pikachu that talks! Yes, Pikachu talks English and is being voiced by Ryan Reynolds. If you’re a fan of of both Pikachu and Ryan’s humour – then you’re going to love this. It’s funny, great for both adults and kids and oh so cute!

You might also hate the movie for the same reasons why you might like it. It’s really hard to ignore the fact that Pikachu is being voiced by Ryan Reynolds a.k.a. Deadpool. Every time I hear Pikachu talk in the trailer, I already have Ryan’s dumb voice ringing in my ears. Besides that, another backlash that this movie has gotten is that the Pokémon look so… different. In other words, it does not look like how we expected them to be – Pikachu looks fluffier than expected while Jigglypuff does not look like it jiggles that much. Besides that, I think there’s nothing to hate for now!

Well now we’re just gonna have to wait and see when the movie comes out next year now huh? 😉
