Reasons why you’re always hungry
Have you ever felt hungry late at night for no apparent reason? Well, this is because of your diet or your lifestyle choices. Here are a few factors why you might be always hungry.
- Not enough sleep
When you don’t get enough sleep there will be an increase of ghrelin, a hormone that stimulates hunger more actively at night when you’re having difficulties sleeping, and a decrease of leptine, a hormone that signals sufficiency. In other words, lack of sleep may lead to hunger at night. Get 7-8 hours of sleep and avoid playing with your phone before going to bed.
- Not eating well
An unhealthy daily diet or intentionally skipping meals can cause hunger. Never skip breakfast, lunch and dinner. You need to be consistent in your diet routine to be healthier.
- Having a small breakfast
Means that you didn’t have a big enough breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Having a proper breakfast will help you to avoid unwanted food cravings throughout the day, so it’s crucial that you never skip it!
- Not consuming enough veggies
You should consume vegetables that are high in vitamin K, an insulin regulating nutrient which helps to reduce your cravings. Eat more salads or any green veggies to boost your vitamin K intake.
- Not enough water
The Hypothalamus is located in your brain and stimulates hunger and thirst. It can send mix message when you’re extremely thirsty causing you think that you actually need a snack when don’t! If you are still hungry after having a big meal, have a glass of water. You may find out that you are actually not getting enough water rather than needing another big mac.
