Best video game movie adaptations of all time

From Assassin’s Creed to The Angry Birds, Hollywood producers have taken these famous video games and turned them into movies in the big screens. Some soared and some flopped terribly. I have shared with you some of the worst video games turned movies ever made yesterday and today I’m going to share with you the best video game movies ever made of all time:

WRECK IT RALPH

The first Ralph installment was based on the arcade game, Fix -It Felix Jr. With over 87% on Rotten Tomatoes, director Rich Moore definitely did not wreck anything about the movie. It’s highly enjoyable for kids and adults alike, and it certainly left us wanting more.

MORTAL KOMBAT

The 1995 Paul W.S. Anderson’s Mortal Kombat is probably one of the very few enjoyable live action video game adaptations ever! The pace was right as its got a good balance of fighting scenes and character moments that kept watchers entertained. It stayed true to the game and it didn’t feel like it was trying hard to be cool.

PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE SANDS OF TIME

Directed by Mike Newell (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire), The Prince of Persia was played by none-other than our favourite Brokeback Mountain star, Jake Gyllenhaal. Although filled with clichés and sub-par humour, this movie turned out to be pretty enjoyable. The only question is: why must they choose an American actor instead of a real Persian? #WhiteWashing

TOMB RAIDER

Not to be confused with Angelina Jolie’s Tomb Raider (Pronounced as “Toomb Rey-der”), the new reboot featuring Alicia Vikander is slightly better than the older versions. The movie’s very predictable, of course, but it’s interesting that they decided to bring back the franchise because we really need more powerful women on screen!

RESIDENT EVIL

Based on the popular Japanese video game, Paul W.S. Anderson returns as director/producer of a 6-part zombie movie franchise. The horror-action-zombie genre has never failed to keep us at the edge of our seats, so naturally, this had to be on our list! (Spoiler: the first one is the best out of the 6 movies)
