PUMA kicks off National Sports Month with ‘House of Hustle’
More than 1,000 fitness enthusiasts came together over the weekend to participate in the country’s first-of-its-kind sports and performance event, called the ‘House of Hustle’.
Organised for the first time in Malaysia by global sports brand PUMA, the two-day event was held in Sentul Depot and it saw the coming together of the best of fitness training and team sports with functional training sessions and competitive 3-on-3 Futsal and Basketball tournaments housed under one roof.
The ‘House of Hustle’ was the first program in line with the Youth and Sports Ministry’s latest initiative, ‘Bulan Sukan Negara’ (National Sports Month), which aims to empower unity through sports and cultivate sports and wellness as a way of life among Malaysians.
“We want to ensure that all Malaysians regardless of race and religion come together to treat sports as a unifying tool and also to lead a healthy lifestyle”, stated Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman in a social media posting encouraging all Malaysians to participate in the event.
PUMA’s Marketing Manager for Southeast Asia, Tim Tham mentioned that the idea behind ‘House of Hustle’ was to introduce something more diversified and out of the ordinary having previously organised a full-fledged fitness event last year with ‘PUMA Train 24/7’.
“We understood that there is a growing need and sense of intrigue among the local fitness fraternity to explore new and interesting concepts in fitness, sports and performance.
“This is why we decided to merge the best of team sports and performance together by adding football and basketball, two of our much-loved business segments, into the mix for the ‘House of Hustle’ event,” said Tham.
In what was equivalent to a carnival-like atmosphere, the event space was separated into several action zones – an open training area for workout sessions on one side as well as futsal and basketball courts for the respective tournaments held on the other.
Surrounding the sides of the hall were a plethora of lifestyle and food vendors. A few noteworthy booths presented included lens meter testing by Zeiss, sneaker dry cleaning by Shoe Mo, and sport rehabilitation by Precise Rehab.
Accompanying the event atmosphere with pumped-up tunes were other exciting activities such as ninja warrior obstacle challenge, punching bags, golf simulator, basketball shooting challenge, vertical jumping test, and a photo wall to keep participants entertained throughout the day.
