Perlis Futsal players in limbo

The Perlis Futsal players look set to miss out on the chance of competing in the Malaysia Premier Futsal League (MPFL) this season.

Perlis Football Association’s (PFA) financial struggles have been making headlines in recent weeks and the confirmation of Perlis Football Club’s expulsion from the Malaysia Premier League this season has left them in dire straits.

Futsal head coach Qusmaini Noor Rusli also revealed that all 25 players and seven officials have not received any wages since signing their contracts with PFA either in December 2018 or January 2019.

To make matters worse, their ineligibility to compete in the MPFL could prove to be a massive stumbling block for the players to earn a call-up to the Malaysia national futsal squad.

“If we are not playing in a team, it is very unlikely that we will be called up to the national squad.

“Because even the coach has reminded us that in order to play for the national squad, we must perform well in the MPFL this season,” said Perlis Futsal captain Qayser Heshaam Abdul Kadir.
