Kamiada FC clinch MILO® Champions Trophy!

The grand finals of the MILO® Champions Trophy featured four Under-16 futsal teams from Malaysia competing against four international teams from South Korea, Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand.

Presented by MILO® Aktif Negaraku for the first time, the MILO® Champions Trophy is an extension of MILO® Hidup Bola, the popular annual grassroots futsal carnival which is now in its 14th year.

The top four teams of the current MILO® Hidup Bola season automatically qualified to compete in the tournament against four international teams from South Korea (Jeon Ju Mag), Indonesia (Kamiada FC), Vietnam (Truc Nginh Pong) and Thailand (Taweethapisek) to take home the inaugural MILO® Champions Trophy.

The conclusion of the tournament which was held at SpaceRubix in Puchong, Selangor over the weekend saw Kamiada FC walk away with the winners trophy and a prize money of RM16,678 (USD4,000) while Taweethapisek FT finished as runners up with a second place trophy and a prize money of RM8,339 (USD2,000).

Malaysia’s Ally FT (Selangor) and IBA Darul Naim (Perak) both finished in third place with the respective teams picking up a bronze trophy and a prize money of RM4,170 (USD1,000).

The MILO® Champions Trophy is the current incarnation of past under-16 MILO® international futsal championships (MILO® Trip of Excellence held in Bangkok, Thailand and other places).

However, unlike MILO® Hidup Bola, this competition opted to follow the FIFA format complete with 20-minute stop time, to give competing teams real-life world tournament experience.

Historically, MILO® Hidup Bola has produced some of the finest talents in futsal including those who have gone on to represent the country in international tournaments and become professional football players, including Nik Akif Syahiran.
