AFC Futsal Club Championship 2019 gets underway!
Asia’s top 16 clubs kicked off their quest for glory in the AFC Futsal Club Championship Thailand 2019 on Wednesday at the Bangkok Arena.
2016 runners-up Naft Al Wasat from Iraq opened the tournament in thrilling fashion with a 9-4 win over three-time semi-finalists Al Rayyan Sport Club, from Qatar, in Group B.
But all eyes were on the day’s final match where host side, Port Futsal Club, marked their nine-year return to the competition with a commanding 3-0 victory against debutants Star FS Seoul from Korea Republic in Group A.
Meanwhile the other Group A match saw Shenzhen Nanling Tielang FC from China PR record an 8-3 win over Kyrgyz Republic’s FC Erem as last year’s finalists Thai Son Nam of Vietnam came back from a goal down to defeat Uzbekistan’s AGMK 4-1 in Group B.
The top two sides from each of the four groups will advance into the quarterfinals, which is scheduled to take place on August 14 and 15.
