Wolves get the better of United, again
Manchester United suffered their third defeat in four games under boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after falling 2-1 to Wolves in the Premier League this morning.
Manchester United would have moved up to third in the league standings, ahead of Arsenal and Tottenham, with a victory at the Molineux Stadium but Nuno Espirito Santo’s Wolves side came from behind to edge the tie thanks to an own goal by defender Chris Smalling in the 77th minute.
The match also saw Ashley Young sent off for a second bookable offense in the 57th minute, making Mike Dean the first referee in Premier League history to issue 100 red cards.
Scott McTominay’s first Manchester United goal put his side ahead in the 13th minute but Diogo Jota, who also scored in Wolves’ FA Cup triumph over Solskjaer’s side last month, levelled in the 25th minute.
Manchester United are currently 5th in the Premier League with 61 points while Wolves are in 7th with 47 points.
