Winning start for Malaysia, Vietnam

Coach Tan Cheng Hoe’s Malaysia side defeated Cambodia 1-0 in Group A of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2018 at the Phnom Penh Olympic Stadium.

A brilliant headed goal from Norshahrul Idlan Talaha in the 29th minute was enough to ensure that the Harimau Malaya squad get off to a winning start in the tournament.

The Pahang forward was able to get on the end of an excellent cross from Zaquan Adha to give Malaysian supporters something to cheer about.

In Group A’s other match, Vietnam recorded a comfortable 3-0 win over Laos at the New Laos National Stadium.

Goals from Nguyen Cong Phuong, Nguyen Anh Duc and Nguyen Quang Hai in the 11th, 47th and 68th minute respectively, helped place Vietnam at the top of Group A thanks to a better goal difference.

Today’s AFF Suzuki Cup 2018 Group B fixtures will see Timor-Leste take on Thailand while Singapore host Indonesia. Both matches are set to be played at 8pm (*Malaysia).
