USA record biggest win in World Cup history!

The U.S. Women’s National team claimed a record breaking 13-0 victory over Thailand in Group F of the FIFA Women’s World Cup at the Stade Auguste-Delaune.

The previous record for goals and margin of victory in a World Cup game was Germany’s 11-0 victory over Argentina back in 2007. But that’s not the only record that they broke:

  • Most goals scored by a team in a World Cup match — men’s or women’s
  • largest margin of victory in a World Cup match
  • Tie: Most goals scored by a player in a World Cup match
  • Most individual goal scorers in a single Women’s World Cup match

Team captain Alex Morgan led by example with an amazing total of five goals while Samantha Mewis and Rose Lavelle each added a pair. Lindsey Horan, Megan Rapinoe, Mallory Pugh and Carli Lloyd also scored en route to a 13-0 victory.

Ranked No. 1 in the world, the Americans have only suffered one defeat in their previous 38 matches; a loss to France in January.
