It was an undeniably awkward moment last night at the 2018 Ballon d’Or when Olympique Lyonnais and Norway forward Ada Hegerberg took home the inaugural Ballon d’Or award on stage.
The blonde footballer received the best player in women’s football award from French DJ Martin Solveig, who surprisingly asked her to ‘twerk’ after presenting the trophy to her!

“You’ve seen that I prepared a little celebration for Kylian (Mbappe) so we said we’re going to do something similar. Do you know how to twerk?” asked the DJ who co-hosted the awards with David Ginola.
Looking superbly annoyed, the three-time women’s Champions League winner abruptly said “no” before walking away on stage.

Kylian Mbappe also appeared to be dumbfounded to hear Solveig asking “Est-ce que tu sais twerk?” to Ada.
But all is well right after because according to the DJ’s tweet, he had apologized and explained to Ada the buzz and she understood it was a joke. He also apologized to anyone who may have been offended due to his twerking request.
I explained to @AdaStolsmo the buzz and she told me she understood it was a joke. Nevertheless my apologies to anyone who may have been offended. Most importantly congratulations to Ada pic.twitter.com/DATdg0TfQk
“He came to me afterwards and was really sad that it went that way,” she told Sky Sports. “I didn’t consider it as sexual harassment or anything in the moment. I was just happy to do the dance and win the Ballon d’Or to be honest,” she added.
People are too easy to be offended these days. What do you think? Was Solveig being a little sexist? Watch the video below:
