TMJ: JDT will dominate Asia

Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) owner, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, said the club will be one of the dominant forces in Asian footbal in the next two years.

He also highlighted how Thai club Buriram United embarked on their journey to become one of the best clubs in the region six years before JDT and have now done so with amazing success.

“Just like Muangthong United, Chonburi FC… I admire the Thai league because I rather watch our neighbours than other leagues such as the Serie A and La Liga. I think they have done an amazing job of developing young talents and giving them the exposure they deserve while providing first class facilities.

“If you look at the army or navy teams in Thailand, you can see that they have better facilities than most teams in the Super League. So if the allocated funds are used properly, I hope the clubs in Malaysia can benefit from emulating our Thai neighbours,” he said.

TMJ believes that it’s high time for Malaysian clubs to become more professional not just in the aspect of developing young players but also in regards to the overall direction of the clubs.

“We have the talent, we have professionalism, but for me, the management also needs to be more professional. At the moment, it’s only JDT, Terengganu FC and PKNS who appear to be working towards this,” said TMJ in an interview with Bernama.
