Syed Saddiq: Thank you JKR
Youth and Sports Minister, Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman, thanked the Malaysian Public Works Department (JKR) via Twitter for their recent statement regarding the Mokthar Dahari Academy (AMD) in Gambang, Pahang.
In a statement that was released yesterday, JKR mentioned that they have the right to hire a third-party contractor if the flaws at the academy are not fixed.
And in a show of support, Syed Saddiq took to Twitter to say, “Thank you JKR. I will monitor this development. It hasn’t even been six months, but more than 800 flaws have been reported.
“We need to be proactive in ensuring all the damages and flaws are rectified. We need to make sure that the government does not have to fork out more money to fix the problem.”
Shortly after the tweet was made, former Youth and Sports Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar, responded by stating the problems at AMD are not an issue and it’s absolutely normal for a government project.
He added that there is also nothing to worry about because the AMD project is still in its warranty period and the contractor will have to sort out all the issues without any additional cost to the government.
