Spain stunned by young England side

Gareth Southgate’s young side put on impressive display to defeat Spain 3-2 at the Benito Villarmarin Stadium in Seville.

Raheem Sterling netted twice, either side of a Marcus Rashford goal, before Paco Alcacer and Sergio Ramos hit back for the hosts, in the Nations League tie this morning.

This marked the first time that Spain have conceded three goals at home in a competitive match and the fact that it happened against England’s youngest starting 11 in 59 years, won’t thrill fans of La Furia Roja.

Marcus Rashford, 20, Joe Gomez, 21, and Ben Chilwell, 21, brought the average age of England starters down to just above 23.

28-year-old Kieran Trippier was the only player in the starting line-up over the age of 25, while Raheem Sterling was the most capped player with 46 appearances to date.
