South Korea, Qatar through to the next round

The two remaining spots in the quarter-finals of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup have been taken up by South Korea and Qatar following their victories over Bahrain and Iraq, respectively.

South Korea took the lead towards the end of the first-half through Hwang Hee-Chan (43′) before Qatar found a back into the game in the 77th minute thanks to a goal from Mohamed Al Romaihi.

And it was Kim Jin-su (107′) who stepped up for the Koreans with a thumping header in extra time to send them into the AFC Asian Cup quarter-finals for the seventh consecutive time.

Meanwhile, at the Al Nahyan Stadium, Bassam Al-Rawi, son of former Iraq international Hisham Al-Rawi, scored a brilliant free-kick in the 62nd minute to help Qatar secure a hard fought 1-0 win over Iraq.

2019 AFC Asian Cup Quarter-Final Fixtures:

Vietnam vs Japan – 9:00pm

China vs Iran – 12:00am
South Korea vs Qatar – 9:00pm

UAE vs Australia – 12:00am
