“South Korea are a powerhouse because of us”

Minister of Youth and Sports, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, said that South Korea became a powerhouse in football after learning the Malaysian “system” and “values” back in the 1980s.

Speaking during the “Rise of the Asian Tiger” convention at Universiti Teknologi MARA this morning, the 26-year-old Muar Member of Parliament shared,”In the 80s, South Korea sent their football coaches to this country and learnt our system as well as our values.”

“As a result, they became a powerhouse in football using what they learnt from us.”

South Korea are currently 38th in the World FIFA Rankings while Malaysia are at 167.
