Son’s red card overturned
Son Heung-min’s red card for the tackle against Everton’s Andre Gomes in the Premier League on Monday has been overturned by the FA.
The South Korea international was dismissed in the second half following a horror challenge on Gomes which resulted in the Everton midfielder suffering a fracture dislocation of his right ankle.
“Heung-min Son will be available for Tottenham Hotspur FC’s next three domestic fixtures after an independent Regulatory Commission upheld a claim of wrongful dismissal.
“The forward was sent off for serious foul play during the Premier League fixture against Everton FC on Sunday 3 November 2019,” read a Tweet by the FA.
Despite being a heavily debated topic, replays of the challenge did appear to show there was no intent from the Tottenham midfielder to injure his opponent.
Gomes underwent surgery on Monday, with Everton confirming that it was a success.
