Tottenham edged Manchester City 1-0 in a thrilling encounter to gain a slender advantage ahead of their UEFA Champions League quarter-finals second leg at the Etihad Stadium.
Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris was forced into action early on after the video assistant referee awarded Manchester City with a penalty in the 10th minute. But the usually lethal, Sergio Aguero failed to give City the lead following an outstanding save by Lloris.
Spurs then suffered the loss of England captain, Harry Kane, who slipped as he tried to block City defender Fabian Delph’s clearance on the right touchline in the second half and was substituted immediately.
But just when it seemed like it was not going to be Tottenham’s day, South Korean Son Heung-min struck the winner in the 78th minute, cutting inside Delph before letting fly with his left foot and getting lucky when City goalkeeper, Ederson, let the ball go beneath his body.
City pushed hard for an equaliser late on but could not save the game, and now face a serious fight to keep their quadruple dreams alive.
