Singapore thrash Timor-Leste 6-1

Safuwan Baharudin scored a hat-trick to help Singapore record an impressive 6-1 victory over Timor-Leste in Group B of the AFF Suzuki Cup.

Despite giving Singapore an early scare by equalising in the 13th minute through Rufino Gama, Timor-Leste were unable to deal with the onslaught that came shortly after.

Singapore went into the break with a three-goal advantage thanks to Safuwan (12′ & 19′) and Ikhsan Fandi (30′ & 42′).

And there was more misery for Timor-Leste late on in the second half as Faris Ramli bagged one for Singapore in the 90th minute while Safuwan claimed his hat-trick in the 92nd.

The win leaves Singapore in 3rd place of Group B with only one point separating them from Thailand, who they are set to play on Sunday, and the Philippines.
