Ronaldo scores four past Lithuania
Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo scored four goals to help his side beat Lithuania 5-1 in their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign.
The 34-year-old has now scored an amazing total of 93 international goals, just 16 behind former Iranian striker Ali Daei’s world record tally.
He opened the scoring with an early penalty, before Vytautas Andriuskevicius equalised at the LFF Stadium in Vilnius, Lithuania.
Ronaldo’s 20-yard shot then went in off Lithuania goalkeeper Ernestas Setkus’ head and he scored two more from Bernardo Silva passes, before William Carvalho’s injury-time fifth.
It was an eighth international hat-trick for Juventus forward Ronaldo to date.
The result means that Portugal remain in an automatic qualifying spot, five points behind Group B leaders Ukraine.
