Real held at home by Brugge
Real Madrid battled back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Belgian side Club Brugge in Group A of the UEFA Champions League this morning.
The 13-time champions were well below par at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium once again as 21-year-old Emmanuel Dennis scored a brace to give the away side a two-goal lead in the first half.
His first came as he miscontrolled Percy Tau’s cross past a wrongfooted Thibaut Courtois. The goal was initially disallowed for offside but awarded after an extended VAR review delay.
For the second, Dennis stumbled into the box and chipped Courtois, who had a game to forget as he was replaced by Alphonse Areola at half-time, despite almost stumbling.
Sergio Ramos pulled one back for the Spanish giants in the 55th minute with a header from Karim Benzema’s cross, which was also ruled out for offside but overturned by the VAR.
Following the dismissal of Brugge captain Ruud Vormer in the 84th minute, Toni Kroos crossed for Casemiro to head in the equaliser from the resulting free-kick.
Real Madrid remain bottom of Group A after being beaten 3-0 by Paris St-Germain in their opening game.
