PSG humiliated at Lille

Paris St-Germain failed to secure the Ligue 1 title for the second weekend in a row as they were defeated 5-0 by second-placed Lille.

The league leaders fell behind to a Thomas Meunier own goal in the seventh minute but Juan Bernat put them back on level terms four minutes later – before being shown the red card for a foul on Nicolas Pepe after 36 minutes.

Pepe then finished off a one-on-one in the second half (51′) and Jonathan Bamba tapped in at the near post to give Lille a commanding lead in the 65th minute.

Headers from defenders Gabriel (71′) and Jose Fonte (84′) ensured that the match would turn into an absolute drubbing for PSG.

This was the first time PSG had conceded five goals in a league game since 2 December 2000, when they lost 5-1 at Sedan.

The scoreline aside, PSG were also rather unfortunate throughout the tie as they had two Kylian Mbappe goals ruled out for offside and lost captain Thiago Silva and Meunier to injury in the first half.
