Pep tells Sterling off
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola had a heated exchange of words with winger Raheem Sterling following his side’s 3-1 win over Manchester United in the Premier League on Monday.
During the dying moments of the game and with City already leading 3-1, Sterling found himself in possession deep in the United half.
After trading passes with teammates Leroy Sane and Phil Foden, the England winger appeared to showboat with the ball before being challenged by the opposition.
Following the final whistle, Pep headed over onto the turf and pulled Sterling into a close hug, before speaking animatedly at the player, who appeared to claim that he did nothing wrong.
“It’s not just the best way defending back, because everything can happen. But he made some movements with the legs, we can avoid it, but he’s young and he’s going to improve,” said Pep during his side’s post-match interview.
