NFDP accountable to MACC
Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman says that the National Football Development Programme (NFDP) will be reported to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) if any form of malpractice or corruption is found in the audit.
This is after it was revealed that the contractor at Akademi Mokhtar Dahari (AMD) in Gambang, Pahang had been paid RM85 million since 2014, yet the facilities were well below par.
However, Syed Saddiq said he would assess the implementation of the programme before making an official report to the MACC.
“I am serious about this matter because when I met with Lim, the coaching line-up and now here, everyone said the same thing. While we are busy discussing major issues, basic things such as inadequate number of balls also crop up.
“AMD should be the centre of excellence, on par with the Bayern Munich Academy, Japan and South Korea, but because of these things, there are many weaknesses,” he said during the NFDP Townhall session at the National Sports Complex last night.
