MFL hit back at KLFA

The Malaysia Football League (MFL) deny that they blocked the Kuala Lumpur Football Association’s (KLFA) yearly grant without asking for an explanation first.

KLFA are currently facing an overdue player salary issue and it has already cost them the services of highly rated Malaysia defender, Syazwan Andik, who opted to terminate his contract with the club.

And now, MFL have issued a statement clarifying that the decision to block KLFA’s yearly grant was not made hastily. According to MFL, they requested for an explanation before the matter was brought to the Board of Directors.

“In reference to the local newspaper report titled ‘Selidik dulu’ (Investigate first) dated 15 January 2019, the Malaysia Football League (MFL) completely deny the statement made by KLFA Vice President Datuk Kamarudin Hassan.

“In that article, Kamarudin said that MFL are ready to block KLFA’s yearly grant without first asking for an explanation from them in regards to the overdue player salary issue.

“However, MFL have already made an official statement, which was published in local newspapers under the title ‘KLFA berdepan pemotongan geran’ (KLFA facing grant cuts) dated 14 January 2019.

“In that report, we made it clear that MFL are demanding for a detailed explanation from KLFA before the case is brought to the Board of Directors.

“This is because MFL have always been consistent with their decisions this past two years and have been operating in accordance to the rules that have been set in the Malaysia League,” read the statement by MFL.
