Man City celebrate historic treble!

Tens of thousands of Manchester City fans took to the streets to hail the club’s historic domestic haul of the Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup – the first time a side has won all three trophies in a single season.

But it was not all about the men’s first team squad as City’s Women’s Team joined in on the festivities on a separate bus, parading the League Cup and FA Cup they had won this season.

Speaking outside Manchester Cathedral, boss Pep Guardiola was full of praise for his backroom staff.

“Without them this is impossible. A lot we cannot do. The players, I cannot do it alone. We push each other. They are my right arm and brain. It’s better to do it all together.

“Zero! Now is time to good dinners, good wine and enjoy this incredible season together.

“In a few weeks one month we will think about it. Now is the time to enjoy.”

The celebrations in Manchester also offered a final opportunity for the club’s fans to pay tribute to outgoing captain Vincent Kompany.

The Belgian defender spent an amazing 11 years at the Etihad, but confirmed his departure after 360 appearances for the club.

The 33-year-old is set to return to Belgium to become player-manager of his boyhood club, Anderlecht.
