Malaysia won’t underestimate Sri Lanka

The Malaysian national squad, under the guidance of Tan Cheng Hoe, are set to face Sri Lanka at the Sugathadasa Stadium on Friday.

And team captain Mohd Zaquan Adha Abdul Radzak insists that Malaysia will not be taking their opponents lightly despite the vast difference in world rankings.

He also added that due to the relatively brief time the team have spent together, this will not be an easy task and urged his teammates to give it their all.

“We will not take this match lightly. Even though it’s just a friendly, it is still important because it will help us prepare for the AFF Suzuki Cup 2018.

“We also didn’t have a lot of time to train before flying off to Colombo. So I’m hoping my teammates can form an instant bond and emerge victorious over our opponents on Friday,” he said in an interview with Berita Harian.

Sri Lanka have only won one of their last three friendlies and are currently at 199 in the world rankings.
