Malaysia U18 squad urged to focus on AFC qualifiers
The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) President, Dato’ Haji Hamidin Haji Mohd Amin wants the national Under-18 squad to get over their disappointment at the recent AFF U18 Championship 2019 in Vietnam.
The Harimau Muda, led by Brad Maloney, were defeated 1-0 by Australia in the final at Ho Chi Minh City on Monday and Dato’ Haji Hamidin said that they should be proud of their accomplishment.
“The players have performed in the match but what is more important that I want you to stay focused on our upcoming match, the 2020 AFC U-19 Championship Qualifiers this November 2 to 10.
“No need to look back instead to we move forward by making this defeat a testament to our next game.
“Congratulations and thanks to Brad and his coaching staff Khan Hung Meng and Yong Wai Hwang and other officers led by team manager and FAM exco Dato’ Kamarul Ariffin Mohd Shahar who worked together for almost two weeks in Vietnam,” said Dato’ Haji Hamidin in a post on FAM’s Facebook page.
Malaysia have been drawn in Group G of the AFC 2020 B-19 Championship qualification alongside hosts Cambodia, Thailand, Brunei and the Northern Mariana Islands.
