Malaysia out to defend unbeaten record
The Harimau Malaya squad have not been beaten by Thailand at home since 1971 and national coach Tan Cheng Hoe is hoping to keep it that way.
Malaysia are set to face defending champions Thailand in the AFF Suzuki Cup semi-final 1st leg at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium tonight and the 50-year-old coach insists that his team will be going for the win.
“You can’t defend for 90 minutes when you’re up against a strong team. The most important thing is that we must get a positive result and not concede any goals ahead of the second leg in Bangkok.
“The players must attack cautiously and be prepared for a counter-attack from Thailand. Our defense must remain focused because every time we attack, we leave ourselves exposed to a counter-attack,” he said.
