Malaysia earn hard-fought draw

Malaysia came from behind twice to draw 2-2 with Indonesia in their second Group B match of the AFF U-22 Championship 2019 at the Phnom Penh Olympic Stadium today.

Indonesia opened the scoring in the 52nd minute through Marinus Wanewar, only for Malaysia to pull one back nine minutes later through Nik Akif Syahiran Nik Mat.

The Garudas restored their lead in the 77th minute thanks to a goal from Witan Sulaeman, but it was the Harimau Malaya who had the final say as Fagiano Okayama striker, Hadi Fayyadh Abdul Razak brought the score back level in the 86th minute.

Malaysia are set to face Myanmar in their final Group B match this Friday at 4.30pm, with a very realistic chance of progressing to the semi-finals of the AFF U-22 Championship 2019.
