Luqman eyes SEA Games 2019 call-up

The absence of Harimau Malaya forward Safawi Rasid could potentially give Luqman Hakim Shamsuddin a chance to represent the Malaysia Under 22 (U-22) squad at the upcoming SEA Games in Manila, Philippines.

The 17-year-old player said that it has always been his dream to represent the nation at the biennial multi-sport event.

“I watched the 2017 edition from the supporters stand and I’ve been trying to make it to the team ever since,” he said.

It was confirmed by Datuk Ong Kim Swee that Safawi will play no part in the upcoming SEA Games having gone through a jam packed season.

And Luqman is ready to give it his all to help Malaysia win a gold medal in Manila, if he is selected.

“I know that this is not an easy task and I will do my very best. I’m under no pressure whatsoever because I always give it my all, be it in training or during matches,” added Luqman.
