Klopp can stay “for as long as he likes”

Liverpool chairman Tom Werner has said manager Jurgen Klopp can stay for as long as he likes at Anfield and suggested that the club are ready to offer him new contract.

The 51-year-old has guided the club to consecutive UEFA Champions League finals season as well as a second place finish in the English Premier League this season.

“We don’t really want to discuss his situation publicly, especially so close to the final,” said Werner in an interview with the Liverpool Echo.

“But I think you know that we think the world of him. We have already extended his contract once.

“All I can say is that it’s obviously important that he stays for as long as he likes. We believe that he’s committed to Liverpool.”

Despite helping the club improve significantly since taking over in 2015, Klopp has yet to win any silverware.
