Kim Swee defends tactics
Malaysia Under 22 (U-22) head coach, Datuk Ong Kim Swee, insists that he didn’t get his tactics wrong following their early exit from the SEA Games 2019.
“When we made it to the quarterfinals and defeated South Korea (2018 Asian Games), no one questioned my formation.
“So why is it that people are questioning my tactics now when most of our players haven’t changed. I think it is an issue that’s being raised unnecessarily.
“If we look at formations, there are multiple variations. We can opt for a different formation, but if we don’t follow the game plan it still won’t favour us,” said the 48-year-old who guided the Harimau Muda to a second place finish in the 2017 edition.
Malaysia were only able to pick up one win (against Timor-Leste) from their four group matches in Manila, Philippines.
