KFA to drag FAM to court

The Kedah Football Association (KFA) are set to drag the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) over the ongoing Akhyar Rashid issue.

FAM recently rejected KFA’s appeal in regards to the compensation amount that needs to be forked by clubs looking to sign the 19-year-old player.

And KFA Honorary Secretary, Mohd Asmirul Anuar Aris, said the decision by FAM is clearly unjust and they will be turning to the CAS for further action.

“We (KFA) are very disappointed with FAM’s decision. As employers who are still in possession of Akhyar’s valid contract, we own the rights to the player and we will be bringing this issue to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

“This is a democratic country and we will fight for our rights,” he said.

As of now, two clubs have shown a strong interest in Akhyar – Johor Darul Ta’zim and Perlis.
