Karathu wants Sumareh in central attacking role

Former Perak coach, Datuk M. Karathu believes that Mohamadou Sumareh will excel more as the central striker up front for Malaysia.

The 75-year-old said that Malaysia coach Tan Cheng Hoe needs to be brave enough to play Sumareh in Zaquan Adha Abd Radzak’s current position so the Gambian-born striker is allowed to do what he does best.

“Sumareh has excellent ball control, dribbling skills and he’s also technically gifted. If it were up to me, I would play him in Zaquan’s current position as the central striker and not on the wings.

“If he plays in the centre, it will be easier for him to take shots on goal. But if he plays on the side, he will only be able to send in crosses.

“We do have another striker in Mat Yo (Norshahrul Idlan Talaha) but he doesn’t seem to be getting enough support up front,” said Datuk M. Karathu.
