Japan’s Abe joins Barca
Barcelona announced that they have completed the signing of promising Japanese winger Hiroki Abe from Kashima Antlers of the J-League.
The Spanish giants revealed that they paid 1.1 million euros (RM 5 million) for the 20-year-old with a 40 million euro (RM 185.1 million) buyout clause which would rise to 100 million euros if he is promoted to the first team.
“He made his full debut in the Copa América against Chile and is considered to be Japanese football’s big promise ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
“A winger who can play on either side or in the middle, he has predominantly been used on the left flank. Abe will now have the chance to develop his game further at FC Barcelona,” Barca said on their website.
Abe made 79 appearances for Kashima Antlers while scoring a total 10 goals in the process.
