Inter appoint Conte

Serie A side Inter Milan announced that they have appointed former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte as their new head coach.

The Italian replaces Luciano Spalletti, who was sacked yesterday, at the San Siro after the club finished fourth in the league this season.

“A new chapter in my life is beginning, I’m really excited. Through my work, I’ll try to repay all of the trust that the president and directors have placed in me,” said Conte on Inter’s official website.

“I have chosen Inter because of the club it is, because of the project’s sound basis and how ambitious it is. Because of Inter’s history.

“I was struck by the club’s transparency and the desire to bring Inter back to where it belongs.”

The 49-year-old spent two years at Stamford Bridge, where he won the Premier League and FA Cup, having previously led Juventus to three Serie A titles.
