Harimau Malaya held at home

Malaysia bounced back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Vietnam in the AFF Suzuki Cup 2018 Final first leg at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium.

The result leaves the Harimau Malaya in a tricky situation for the second leg clash at the My Dinh National Stadium on 15 December.

A goal from Nguyen Huy Hung (22nd min) and a long-range strike from Pham Duc Huy (25th min) put Vietnam in a commanding position in the opening quarter of the match.

But Malaysia were able to pull one back in the first half through Shahrul Saad (36th min) who coolly put away a set-piece assist from Syameer Kutty Abba.

The second half saw Malaysia maintaining their momentum and they were rightly rewarded in the 60th minute as Safawi Rasid curled in a beautiful free kick to give the home side a fighting chance in the second leg.

Malaysia travel to Hanoi, Vietnam on 15 December for the AFF Suzuki Cup 2018 Final second leg.
