Hamidin steps down as VP of AFF
Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) President, Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin, has made the decision to relinquish his role as the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Vice-President, effective immediately.
In a letter submitted to AFF President, Major General Khiev Sameth, Hamidin explained the decision was made following his election as an executive committee member of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for the term 2019-2023.
“In respecting the spirit of solidarity amongst AFF member associations, I have decided to relinquish the vice-presidency of AFF with immediate effect.
“Following discussions with AFC President, His Excellency Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa and General Sameth, this decision will not only enable me to focus on my responsibilities as an AFC exco member but also pave the way for my counterparts from neighbouring countries to contribute as a vice-president of AFF,” said Dato’ Haji Hamidin.
In the AFF Congress in Siem Reap on March 17, Dato’ Haji Hamidin along with Dato’ Sri Zaw Zaw of Myanmar and Dato’ Sri Francisco Kalbuadi Lay from Timor Leste won their seats uncontested as the three vice-presidents of AFF.
