Gunners down Napoli

A strike from Aaron Ramsey and an own goal by Kalidou Koulibaly helped Arsenal secure a 2-0 win over Napoli in their Europa League quarter-final first-leg clash at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners found themselves ahead in the 14th minute through Ramsey, who did well to finish off a sweeping move on the right flank by calmly slotting the ball past Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret.

And their advantage was doubled 10 minutes later after Lucas Torreira dashed through the midfield of the Italian side before spinning and switching the ball to his left foot and unleashing a stinging shot.

The 23-year-old’s strike took a deflection off Napoli defender Koulibaly and was registered as an own-goal.

Following the victory, Arsenal boss Unai Emery said, “We can be happy with this result, but (Napoli) are going to be more competitive away. Our challenge – our success – is going to be if we can be competitive away.”
