Give Cheng Hoe a chance
Malaysia captain and defender Aidil Zafuan insists that national coach Tan Cheng Hoe should be given a chance to prove himself following their recent run in the AFF Suzuki Cup 2018.
Speaking after the Harimau Malaya’s 1-0 (3-2) defeat to Vietnam in the final, the 31-year-old Johor Darul Ta’zim F.C. centre back said: “If you ask me, people would say it’s unfair for me to praise coach Tan Cheng Hoe because I’m the captain of the team.
“But honestly speaking, for me, it doesn’t matter if his replacement has won the World Cup, it would ultimately amount to nothing if he is unable to win the hearts of the players.
“I can say that coach Tan has his own character, his own philosophy and people have been criticising him from the start for picking me as the captain and the reasoning behind his formations.
“As a player, I can see that coach Tan is calm, decisive and knows what needs to be done.
“We always hear him say that you need to be honest and sincere. I believe he has his own philosophy and should be given a chance to prove himself.”
