Footballers who have been in horrific car accidents

Sometimes car crashes can be fatal but not for these footballers on our list who amazingly, only suffered from minor scratches.

1.Anderson

In 2010, Anderson was involved in a near-fatal car accident. He was dragged unconscious from the burning wreckage of his Audi R8. He suffered from minor injuries and spent a few hours in the hospital. The accident happened around 7am when his car hit the wall of a farm before flying into a nearby field. According to reports, he was charged for drunk driving.

2. Jermaine Pennant

The English footballer once crashed his Mercedes into a lamppost before driving off with the post dragging underneath his car. He was jailed for three months. Not just that, the former Liverpool player was also arrested in a shopping complex parking area because he was driving under the influence of alcohol. He introduced himself as Ashley Cole (his England teammate) in an attempt to hide his identity. #classact

3.Diego Maradona

He is, without a doubt, the most controversial figure in football history. Wild parties, drug abuse and fights aside; he once made headlines courtesy of a car crash in Cuba. Maradona hit a tourist bus while attempting to drive against traffic. Thankfully, no one was hurt. To make things worse, he was driving after consuming drugs!

4.David Bently

Another case of driving under the influence of alcohol, the former Tottenham player crashed his expensive Porsche 911 Turbo into a lamppost after drinking four pints and two spirits at a gig. He was banned from driving for a year and fined RM2500 for that incident.

5.Cristiano Ronaldo

This accident happened back in his Manchester United days; Ronaldo didn’t do a good job of handling his Ferrari 599 GTB while heading to the training ground. He lost control at 205 mph and the car crashed into a wall in a motorway tunnel. One of the tyres even came off the car. His teammate at the time, Edwin Van Der Sar said, “I got there just after the accident had happened and saw the state of the car, it’s amazing he got out of it without a scratch.”
