Farizal wants revenge
Goalkeeper Farizal Marlias has said that Malaysia will be out for revenge when they face Vietnam in the AFF Suzuki Cup 2018 final.
The Harimau Malaya were defeated 2-0 by Vietnam at the My Dinh National Stadium during the group stages of the tournament and the 32-year-old Pahang born player revealed that his team are determined to return the favour.
“We are actually looking forward to facing Vietnam because we were defeated by them before this. So we want to make up for it in the final,” he said.
Farizal featured in Malaysia’s triumph over Thailand in the semi-final and admitted they were lucky that Adisak Kraison completely missed his stoppage time penalty.
“When they (Thailand) were awarded a penalty in the final minute, we thought it was over. Because if Adisak had put it away, they would have played it safe and defended, so we were very lucky.
“We gave it everything and the penalty decision almost killed our spirits completely. But fortune favoured us and it all worked out in the end,” said Farizal.
