Farizal wants Malaysia to attack
32-year-old Malaysian goalkeeper Farizal Marlias has urged his side to go on the offensive when facing Thailand at the Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok.
Malaysia drew 1-1 with Thailand in the first leg of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2018 semi-final at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium last Saturday. And Farizal is well aware that they cannot rest on their laurels in the return leg tonight.
“Both teams have a chance to progress to the final. And I know it won’t be easy for us to get a positive result there (Thailand), but I’m confident we have what it takes to pressure them. The first leg showed that we are definitely capable of challenging them and I hope that our attackers will shine for us in Thailand.
“The way they played (in the first leg) was rather shocking. Because we know that Thailand are not a defending team, so it might have been a change in tactics by their coach.
“But I think they will be more offensive when playing at home and that might give us an opportunity to hit them on the counter. The pressure is very much on them,” said Farizal.
Thailand host Malaysia in the second leg of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2018 semi-final at 8pm tonight.
