FAM vow to weed out illegal agents

The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) are determined stop illegal agents from operating in the local football scene.

And FAM deputy president, Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mahadi said that they are ready to do whatever it takes to overcome the problem.

“When the Intermediary System was introduced (in 2017), we only sent a notice to all agents to register with FAM. The notices were also given to teams to ensure they deal with verified agents only.

“When many teams chose to ignore the notice and take the easy way to deal with illegal agents, a lot of problems have arisen.

“We look seriously into this matter and we think it’s time to establish a new rule whereby it’s mandatory for all teams to register their players through legit agents registered with FAM.

“If teams do not abide by this rule, we will not allow the imports to play. Whatever it is, I will check with FAM’s legal team on this and if it is allowed, we will table this at the FAM and MFL (Malaysian Football League) meeting.”
