FAM to look into overcrowding issue
The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) said they will investigate the overcrowding of supporters in Tuesday’s AFF Suzuki Cup Final first leg tie between Malaysia and Vietnam at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium.
Reports claim that there were 87,141 supporters present in the stadium which only has a capacity of 85,000.
In a statement on FAM’s official Facebook page, General Secretary Stuart Ramalingam said: “The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) have held discussions and will be working together with the Cheras State Police Headquarters (IPD) regarding allegations of overcrowding during the AFF Suzuki Cup 2019 Final 1, Malaysia versus Vietnam, at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium.
“Thus, the FAM are going to look into this matter and ensure that it does not happen again.
“Action will be taken based on the speculation that have been doing the rounds on social media in regards to the overcrowding which not only taints the reputation of FAM but is also a threat to the safety of those in attendance.
