FAM to get aid from AFC
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) are set to help the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) streamline the body’s directions in relation to statutes, rules and governance.
This is one of the first steps in the execution of the F:30 initiative which is set to focus on comprehensive development at every level to make Malaysia a force to be reckoned with in the footballing scene.
The news was confirmed by FAM secretary-general Stuart Ramalingam during a recent press conference. He stated that the help from AFC will help FAM reach international standards.
“The support and guidance is needed by FAM to update, fix, organise as well as strengthen existing statutes, rules and codes of conduct to meet current demands, international standards and the best practices of governance.
“This is to ensure that FAM’s statutes, rules and codes of conduct are in line with the latest directives from the AFC and the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) to avoid any contradictions in the future.
“So the AFC, through their secretary-general Datuk Windsor John, answered our application and said that they are ready to help us out however they can,” he said.
