EXCLUSIVE: Kim Swee believes Malaysia can go international only if…
Head Coach of the Malaysia U-23 squad, Datuk Ong Kim Swee stated that at the moment the local football scene is off to a great start as there are a lot of programs planned to take them to the next level.
In an exclusive interview with Futsal.Asia at the recent World Football Summit Asia, the 48-year-old urged Malaysia to look at developing their youth system before approaching any other steps or strategies.
He believes that by placing a greater focus on youth development, the nation will be able to achieve bigger success on the international stage.
“At the moment, I believe that with the F30 plan, we will be able to win the AFC Asian Cup. However, I would like to consider the F30 as a short-term plan. We need a 40 to 50-year plan. Only then we can judge the Malaysian football scene better,” he said.
Kim Swee was a known player for Malacca in the early 90’s and made his international debut against Kuwait in 1994.
