City reclaim top spot!
Manchester City defeated Manchester United 2-0 at Old Trafford in the Manchester Derby to move top of the Premier League standings this morning.
Second half goals from Bernardo Silva (54′) and substitute Leroy Sane (66′) ensured that Pep Guardiola’s side now lead Liverpool by a solitary point with just three games remaining.
Meanwhile United, having lost seven of its last nine games in all competitions, are currently in sixth position in the table, behind both Chelsea and Arsenal in the race to finish in the top four and secure a place in the UEFA Champions League next season.
Following the crucial victory, City captain Vincent Kompany said,”In the league, nothing is played out yet. Burnley is a difficult away game next and there is plenty to play for both for us and Liverpool. We will deal with the other games in the next days.”
Manchester City’s remaining Premier League opponents for the rest of the season are Burnley, Leicester and Brighton.
