Cheng Hoe: We need to work harder
Malaysia national head coach Tan Cheng Hoe is happy with the commitment being shown by his squad but insists that they need to up their game for the challenges that lie ahead.
The Harimau Malaya suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat at home to United Arab Emirates (UAE) in their Group G World Cup 2022/Asian Cup 2023 qualifiers clash on Tuesday which now leaves them in third place.
Despite the disappointing result, Cheng Hoe has stressed that there is nothing more he can ask from his players who have given it their all thus far in the campaign.
“Overall, the players have performed excellently. However, we should have gotten more goals in the first 20 minutes (against UAE).
“The commitment of the players cannot be questioned. They have put their heart and soul into this. But we need to work harder for the upcoming games,” said the 51-year-old.
